Ceramics: The Surfaces

Below you can see the finished surface of the Ceramics. I have vigorously sanded the surfaced of the terracotta and white earthenware, firing the porcelain to 1260 to give it the classic high fired, matt sheen of high-fired porcelain. Below are some of the images. I am really please with the ceramic surfaces, specially the white earthenware and how smooth the bisque fired surfaces become after sanding. After sanding the terracotta, the surface darkened and became less bright orange which I was also pleased with. The porcelain did warp slightly during firing, with the form sinking down a bit. This did cause some folds on the edges and on some of the forms, small cracks appeared. However, overall, little of this was noticeable and I was very pleased with how the form of the Earth looked, with the beautiful matt sheen of the high fired finish and non of the actual undulations of the surfaces warping.
