Having finished the silicone mould, I poured the first concrete mix with a ratio of 2:2:2 (cement, fine and medium aggregates, sharp sand) into the mould. The cast came out really well first time with the silicone clearly gave the surface of the concrete a really nice finish on both side which was a relief, and made the work making to mould pay off. There were however a few holes on the front surface of the piece which wasn’t ideal so I carried out a few more casts. However, I am very pleased with the finish of the concrete and how there are lots of small air bubble in the form emulating the craters of mercury. The colour of the concrete looks very like the surface of mercury which I am also very pleased with. See below-
