Concrete: The Plaster Jacket

Alongside slip casting I have been working on the plaster jackets to encase the silicone mould for Mercury, the concrete form. I began by treating the object as a normal plaster cast and encasing it with clay along the edges of the form. I then put a layer of clay about 1 cm thick over the form with dovetail keys around the edge for the silicone to fit into the plaster. I then poured the plaster over this and repeated for both sides of the mould to create the two plaster jackets. Finally I cleaned out one side ready for the silicone to be poured into.
