Something I am always amazed by with Bronze is how it is so dynamic. After casting and finishing, the surface constantly changes , oxidising as it reacts with the air and the oil from the hand of anyone who touches it.
When I finish working on the bronze surface it was polished to a mirror finish and now, a couple of weeks later, the surface is very different. Wherever it has been handled, the surface has changed colour from gold to a dark blue hue. In placed which haven’t been handled the surface has dulled, oxidising in the air. See images below.
It fascinates me how the material is almost alive and growing, changing as it is touches and reacting to its environment.
